The Internal Medicine Residency Program offers a thoughtful training experience to prepare physicians for a successful career caring for adult patients in the hospital,clinic and other medical settings. An emphasis on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and comprehensive patient care create a solid foundation for new internists. With both hands-on experiences and an excellent didactic program, the program encompasses all areas of the internal medicine specialty.
Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is a three-year (36 month) osteopathic post-graduate program. The program is an AOA-approved residency with both DO and MD faculty physicians and is based at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, the largest tertiary care hospital within Samaritan Health Services. The continuity ambulatory care experience will be satisfied by attending the residency program internal medicine clinic.
Rotation Schedule
The academic year consists of 13 blocks which are each four weeks in length. The Internal Medicine curriculum is listed below but
is not in order of how the training blocks will be organized.
Out Rotations: ICU in PGY 1 is completed at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon
Endocrine in PGY 3 is completed at the Portland VA and OHSU in POrtland, Oregon

Daily Morning Report (Monthly Template Schedule Below)
Daily Noon Lectures, which cover a wide variety of topics and sub specialities aimed at creating well rounded learning experience. The noon lecture curriculum series consists of the following areas:
Grand Rounds occur every Friday with all members of the medical staff Harrison's Club occurs once a month over a dinner hosted by the program director
Participation in OMT Clinic and Workshops. All Internal Medicine interns will work a minimum of 3 shifts in the OMT clinic during the academic year.
